Abdirizak Jaji Raghe Wehelie

According to a press release Monday by the DOJ and U.S Attorney's office of the Eastern District of Virginia, a former FBI linguist was arrested and indicted on obstruction charges in
a terrorism investigation. The translator for the FBI is being accused of lying about hearing his own voice on a wiretap.

GATEWAY PUNDIT - “According to court documents, Abdirizak Jaji Raghe Wehelie, aka Haji Raghe, 66, of Burke, was a federal contractor for the FBI and worked as a linguist translating communications captured by court-authorized surveillance of a suspect (Person A) in a terrorism investigation. Wehelie allegedly intentionally misidentified his own voice that was captured when Person A left a voicemail message on Wehelie’s mobile telephone,” the US Attorney’s office in the Eastern District of Virginia stated in a press release.

When Wehelie heard his own voice-mail message on the wiretap, he did not tell his superiors, according to the indictment unsealed Monday. Instead, he labeled himself in his FBI log as an “unidentified male.” He changed his voice-mail message so that he no longer identified himself by name.

In 2016 interviews with the FBI, Wehelie said he never had a conversation with the caller and received only one voice mail from him. He also claimed - falsely, according to prosecutors - that he had reported his relationship with the suspect to supervisors.

This particular caller or as earlier mentioned (Person A) is suspected of helping someone else join the Somali terrorist group al-Shabab and had left a message on Wehelie’s cellphone in December 2012.
